Something to Cheer About:
Pittsburgh’s Negro League

2006

“I loved the game. I played it with all my heart.
I played it with…reckless abandon. Mother always knew
where her baby boy was. I was down in that ball field
because I was baseball nuts!”

...

This portrait of Pittsburgh’s pioneering Negro League baseball teams plays in the Sports Museum theater. Oral histories and interviews with players bring to life the story of the Homestead Grays, Pittsburgh Crawfords, and others who played during the League’s golden age. Narrated by Joe Morgan.

Clash of Empires

2006

This permanent award-winning exhibit tells the story of the French & Indian War, and traveled to the Smithsonian Institution and Canadian War Museum. Argentine Productions produced an opening video to orient visitors to the larger global conflict of the Seven Years War, and a closing video to show how the wartime experiences of colonists on the American frontier influenced the American Revolution.

Echoes of the Past

1996

“What we know of the past can be found in the things left behind by those who came before us. History can be found in a settler’s axe or a farmer’s plow, in a log cabin or an old stone house.”
...

This theater orientation video shows how people connect to the past through objects, artifacts, stories, and places. A lunch bucket, scissor grinder, faded photo, and neighborhood store provide emotional touch points that bring the exhibit alive for the visitor. Narrated by Willie Stargell.
